The Story Behind MPC

Conceived by salon Founder ALLY CONLEY, designed + built by Peter Hamon of Peter Hamon Buildesign, Beverly Hills, CA, with interior finish and fixtures by Rachel Winokur of Etta Designs [www.ettadesigns.com], Marina Del Rey, MANI PEDI CUTIE! (MPC) opened its doors February 2008 in the busy pedestrian shopping area by the beach at 507 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach, CA. MPC is an upscale natural nail salon for men, women and children ages 3 and up. MPC has "green" accommodations and use non-toxic beauty supplies.

Conley created MPC as the first premier nail salon and foot spa in the area where children can enjoy the services too in their own space. Teens can be treated to a special day before the big prom and a bridal party can be treated lavishly before the big day with makeup treatments in a private room dubbed the Hollywood Room. It is also a place where business women can meet, socialize and bond, and a nursing mother can relax and be pampered in a private room.

After graduating high school in '88, Ally Conley signed on with Elite Modeling Agency, and traveled the world. She met her husband in Chicago and then they moved to California, where he is now a producer. "I was working 60 hour weeks, making lots of money and was very excited about my career. Then I got pregnant. I didn't know what I was going to do since I had never even changed a diaper. My daughter Cia was born two days after my birthday and everything changed for me," Ally says. After several months, she was ready to go back to work, but had no idea what to do because she and her husband didn't both want to be in the biz.

"My husband called me one day and told me that we were going to have dinner with his boss and for me to dress up. I looked down at my toes and screamed. My feet hadn't received a pedicure since my daughter was born, and there was no one to take care of her while getting them done. That's when it hit me; I'd open a salon that caters to mothers + daughters. Thats how Mani-Pedi-Cutie! was created."
